About The Artist
For nearly 40 years, I had the privilege of creating make-up effects for Hollywood, and I loved almost every moment of it—well, for 37 years, but that's a story for another day. After making a significant life change, I realized I had lost my sense of purpose. make-up and make-up Effects had been more than just a career for me; they were my identity and passion. Faced with this void, I had to reinvent myself. For about four years, I dedicated my time to creating How-To Workbooks and conducting seminars for Mitch Rogers at Brick in the Yard, located in Richardson, Texas.
During this period, I also had the opportunity to contribute prosthetics for Glenn Close in “Hillbilly Elegy”, collaborate on “Black Adam” for my friend Deborah Lamia Denaver, and create pieces for the Disney+ show “American Born Chinese.” However, this work came to a halt during the major industry strike of 2023. Alongside the strike, advancements in Visual Effects—CGI and AI—transformed the industry, as they have done over time. Once again, I found myself at a crossroads, but this time, I was ready to embrace the change.
Surprisingly, I never envisioned myself becoming an artist, but I’ve always loved creating spontaneously with whatever materials I have on hand. In October 2024, I began sculpting miniature heads and discovered that I was finally breaking free from the rigid sculpting techniques I had adhered to during my years in Prosthetic Make-up. To my amazement, the art began to flow naturally. For the first time in a long while, I felt truly inspired.
I understand that my creations won't resonate with everyone, but art is a vast world filled with different visions and imaginations. I’ve always approached life with my eyes wide open, ready to embrace its wonders and surprises. It’s this sense of curiosity and awe that continues to fuel my creative spirit.
